A Homage To The Motherland
"Where are you from?" "I'm British..." "No, but where are you actually from?" Brighton food blogger
A question I'm sure any person of colour has been confronted with at least once! Well, since you asked I'm half Egyptian, half Sudanese. Undoubtedly, the most common response I get is "Wow, the pyramids! Where's Sudan?"

The Motherland was a place you always heard about growing up. A place that once seemed beyond your imagination. The endless stories recited by parents and the reminiscing of memories shared by grandparents. As a child you'll do anything to fit in, including the denial of your culture. It's not until you grow up that you understand the importance of taking pride in your heritage and the privilege of being able to visit the Motherland. Both countries have a rich and profound history, a place I'm proud to call home. The remains of ancient Egypt lacing the country leaving behind a sense of enchantment wherever you go and Sudan presenting life long traditions with tribal origins.
